Thinking of changing distributor
In adition to my 1988 Camaro SportsCoupe I also have a 69 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ with a 455ci with an New HEI Distro that I had put in it right before I had spun a bearing and got a rod knock, The Disto that I have in my 69 has the Coil on the Cap as where on my Camaro Its mounted aside the Disto on the Intake Manifold. To make a long story short I want to put the Distro from my 69 into my Camro? Since my Camaro is a 88 SportsCoupe with a stock 305 Fuil Injected and TH700R-4 all stock under the hood. Can this be done since my camaro has ECM or (Computer)? both Distro's are HEI but the one in my 69 is just about Brand New (Nothing Fancy just new)
I have attached a jpg of some images of the Distro I want to put on my Camaro. Can it be done?
Thanks for any suggestions

I thought that a big block distributor would be different than a small block.
Yes it would mess up your computer. It would probably throw a code to do with the ignition. I have my stock quadrajet carb gone and replaced with an edlebrock 600cfm and Im using the stock distributor and I dont have any problems except the check engine light on. If you did use it you would probably have the same problem. I dont know if it sends any info to the computer for the carb based on ignition timing. People told me I couldnt run the stock distributor with the electronic advance without having my computer controlled carb on. It ran fine for nearly 2 years before the engine let go. It wasnt built right so its not from my setup.
If it fits you can give it a try. If it doesnt work it probably wouldnt hurt anything to try. Just an afternoon pulling it and putting the new one in and seeing if it works.
