gauge wires

What type of wire do you suggest using with autometer guages? My mechanic says speaker wire isn't good enough.

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
18 gauge or heavier should work fine.

For power, ground, and sensor, I used 18ga. For the lighting you should probably go with 16ga. Use stranded wire, not solid core (stranded won't break from vibration.)

Speaker wire isn't much good for anything but speakers.
