87 IROC dual fan operation ( wiring dilemma)
87 IROC dual fan operation ( wiring dilemma)
Hope someone can answer this.
My son has an 87 with dual fans. Maybe I'm expecting the operation to be different. Shouldn't one of them come on at the same time as the a/c and the other by engine temp? If we fire up the a/c, the engine will boil at idle since one fan fails to run. We replaced both relays by the battery since they were falling apart and still nothing. There is power and the motor is operational since I jumped main power to the relay across to the fan and it runs fine.
So basically, any diagrams out there as to how the factory intended it?
Thanks

Have you checked the FP-Fan fuse on the fuse panel and also the pressure switch on the A/C line just in front of the condenser. There is also a fusible link that powers the fans. Here are some schematics that might help you, they are out of the GM service manual for an 1989 camaro but the wiring is similar enough to the 1987 camaro that you should get the idea.
Thanks
This should help a bunch as soon as I get back to Chicago from San Diego.
I ruled out fusible links since I have power at the relay(s). Just working out the trigger sources.
Thanks again:hail:
