amp rating of battery switch???
i moved the battery to the back a while back and it has been working fine. to race at the dragstrip they want me to have a battery switch. so i bought one from advance auto parts. its a calterm battery cut-off switch and the part # is 41860. it is rated at 50 amps continuous and 12 volts dc. an employee told me that a friend of his had the exact same battery switch on an old mustang with a big block and it worked great. before i installed this, i wanted to check with you guys to make sure that this switch would work in my car. i thought the starter used more than 50 amps......so is it ok to overload the switch to start the car? id think the switch would work fine as long as the car started. what do you guys think?

Think of 50 amp continuous as for a long time. Your starter draws more than 50amps but it doesnt do it for a long time. You should have any problems with it unless you run alot of accessorys.
