Possible Alt prob w/ AC on?

I have a large voltage drop on the charging system only when i have the AC kicked on. If i turn on any other loads w/o AC it stays above 12 - 13 Volts. But once i kick that AC on drops it to like 8 V. Then if i kick the AC back off it will go back up to 13 again but takes some time.

I was reading that the alt wiring goes through the coolant fan switch. My fans were not working and i live in AZ so i thought i would run them off a manuel switch to keep things cooler. I complety bypasses everythign and run the fans off the battery.

Now im wondering if the faulty coolant temp switch could still be causeing some problems or is it the alternator. I have a new battery in the car also.

Actually, the wire that you are talking about goes through the coolant fan relay. It also goes to the FP-FAN fuse on the fuse panel.

Well yesterday i was on the freeway coming how from the airport, and got stuck in rushhour traffic. The car never really is run for any long periods of time this being the 1st in proably like 5 months. Well after about 30 mins of stop and go i noticed the charge dropping. *lightbulb* ok so i know its the damn alternator now. Plus when i got home i parked it let it cool went to start it up and the damn thing was whinning now lol. So i will be replaceing it today. If this doesnt solve the problem i might just shoot the car lol.
