I've had my car for 3 weeks now and last night I was cruising town and I got to a light and when it turned i took off and heard a car alarm go off. I thought "damn my exhaust isn't loud enough to set off alarms. So about 2 blocks up the road i'm still hearing it and realize "sh@t this is comming from my car"!
So I pull into a parking lot and sure as hell an alarm is going off under my hood.
My car didnt come with a remote for an alarmor anything so i didnt even realize it was in there. I had to open the hood and cut the wires to the speaker to shut the damn thing off.
So where would the main control for this alarm be? I'd like to find it and see if i can get a new control for it. Whats the chances if its an alarm system from '89?

Most of the time it will be under the dash. You should have a kill button somewhere hidden.Maybe in the center console,or under the dash as well.If it is from 89 you may want to replace it anyway.

hehe that is funny, i have a alarm in my car they guy who owned it befor installed,
i kept it in to get the insurance deduction
,
mine has a toggel "kill switch" under the dash, near my fuse box,
i just keep it off, cause i have the remotes for it, but its cheap,
after i got the car home i tried it out,
i presed the button once,
nothing,
i press it a second time,
nothing,
i press it a third time and the alarm goes off,
after that i switched the "kill switch" to off and havent thought about it since,
all its good for is the insurace deduction,
and for going off every time i disconect the battery to work on the car and plug it back in,
ive been meaning to get a new alarm system,
one of those 2-way remote dealies, those are sweet, get one of those if youve got the $$$

I don't mean to steal your thread or anything but I have the same problem. My alarm was installed by the previous owner. It works good except mine will also go off while driving everyonce in a while. How is it arming itself while driving? Could it be in the wiring? Installed incorrectly? Going bad?
