Which sensor to trust ???

Hello to everybody !
I have 2 new coolant temperature sensors ( one for the instrument and one for the ECM ). When my fan kicks on, my instrument shows near to the red, but the scanner shows about 220 degrees. Which one should I trust, I´m a little bit scared of overheating my engine ???
Thanks,
Uwe

The fan switch kicks on around 220 so i would be inclined to trust that the ecm is seening the "correct" temp. An easy way to figure out if the ecm temp is correct would be to unscrew the sensor for it and put it in a known temperature of water. Then check the reading on the scan tool to see if it is the correct reading.
