Alternator affects running of the car like this?
I posted this over on the tech/general forum too but I'm posting it again here as it falls under this board too.
I've been having trouble latley with my car not having much power below 3000rpm then after that acting like normal. Well, when I picked my car up from getting my new tranny fitted (new battery at same time), the drivers side fan was for some reason on all the time. When I've been sitting at a stop the volt meter has sometimes dropped by a few volts and the engine RPMs go down a litle also.
Getting to the point.....After driving the car tonight I disconnected the fan so and for the first time in bloody months I was able to put my foot on the brake and push the gas to stall my car to the point it broke traction!! After working on this problem for weeks now, the whole experience absolutley floored me.
Could it have been a combination of a weak alternator and too much power being drawn at lower RPMs?
I'm going to test it more tomorrow, but I'm just wondering if this combination of things could have been causing me problems?
Thanks for the help.
Robert
