Can low charging ALT lead to poor performance.

Well I have got a powermaster 100 amp alternator about a month and a half ago. Heres the deal, I started the car after I had installed the powermaster and my idle jumped almost 350rpms from where it originally was and that is not touching anything else but the alternator. The only thing is that on the alt gauge it showed alittle above 13 volts which is good but after about a week it started getting to were the stupid thing sits around 11 volts with the electric fan on and about 14 with it off according to the guage.SO I took it to 2 diff places to have it checked and it was running 14.5 volts..hmmm ok so I am back in the same ole crap. I have a high power electric fan that when I flip it off my idle smooths out and its really noticeably but when you flick it back on idle goes down so if I am sitting at a light and it started to idle alittle harsh I just kick the fan off and it seems to help. The fan has like a 20 amp draw as well. But the fan is new and its running like a charm so I dont think thats the problem. But here is another thing. When I drive the car with the wipers on, fan on and I stop and park it with the engine off for a few mintues.Trying to start it up again is a real pain in the *** cause it acts like it doesnt have enough spark energy or something and acts like its flooded and blows black smoke like crazy. But that is only when I have the wipers and fan on when I shut it off it doesnt do it any other time like that. Then after about a minute it goes back to normal but I have to leave all the acc. off like the fan, wiper, ect... Guys I really need some help here. My ignition consists of a MSD 6 box with blaster 2 coil and Msd 8.5 mm wires and ngk plugs. This is all on a 1979 350 engine with a carb and Hei distributer in my 89 camaro. There is no computer controls to this engine. If it matters. But back to the question, If a alt doesnt charge like it should can it affect upper end performance? If you can shed some like on this it will be appreciated. Thanks

High-amperage alternators don't do well at idle. they don't start chargeing till about 1200 RPM, with the factory pulley.
