What is the 3rd switch spot for on my dash?
I have an '88 TA, and on the guage bezel, there are three places to mount switch/buttons. One is used for the window defroster and one is used for the hatch pop, leaving one unused space.
What is supposed to go here? There is a wiring harness that leads right to the spot connected to nothing. A buddy of mine said it was for the convertible, but I don't think that's right because... #1 a third party converted T-top cars to verts for GM, and #2 if it was a convertible thing, they would have put that in place of the rear window defroster.
If anyone knows what this third spot is for, that'd be cool..

Guess that you don't have the owner's manual. But then, you would need a real glovebox in which to store such a book. The switch is for a rear wiper/washer.

Yeah, no owner's manual. Ah, that's right some models came with that feature...kinda wish mine did actually.
Oh well, it'll be a good location to mount a useful
switch and still keep it stock lookin

My Triumph (pretty English sport car) was full of FACTORY switches that I had installed in places that were blanked off in my American model.
Get the wiper switch off eBay, if you wish.

I dunno where the rear wiper switch would be, I've never had a rear wiper. But I do have the factory subwoofer system.

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The rear wiper was dis-continued in like 86 or so. That spot was then used for the amplifier gain control if the car was optioned with it.

No the fog lights were on the left of the steering wheel, just under the headlight control. I have 2 spots for switches to the right of the steering wheel on both of my firebirds. The rightmost one has 2 switches (defroster on and defroster off) as well as a light that looks like another switch that just tells you that the defroster is on in case you cant see that the switch is depressed or something.
As for the middle blank, gain control. Er, on my TA it is where the light for the alarm is mounted because I dont have that gain switch, instead it's just a blank.
From what I see in this thread it looks like it might have more than one thing mounted there, depenging on year and model. Try checking on cardomain to see. Look around for interior shots and note what they have in that spot..
