ok i just got done changing my steering column in my 92 bird and since i have a new key i need to know where the VATS are.


so... where is it!!!??

First thing before you go looking for the VATS control module. Do you have the key from your old steering column? If you do, just use that to get the code for your new key.

 

yes i have the key from my old column. how do i go about getting the new code?

 

also is there any way to by pass the VATS.
is the VATS box that hard to get to?

 

Take the key to the dealership and they can read the code and give you a new key with the right code. The VATS control module is mounted on the firewall below the defroster ducts and is a royal PITA to get to. So if everything was working fine before you changed steering columns, don't mess with it.

 

ok just for the heck of it i tryed starting it with out putting the different vats modual in.


AND IT STARTED!!! what do u guys think of that. did i get really lucky and find a matching key or what??

im kinda blown away i dont know what to think.
