Please Help!!!! Speedomiter problem...
Hello all I am new to this forum and also new to the thirg gen. series.
I have a 1985 305 TPI Trans Am and the speedomiter does not work. All the other gauges work fine for the eception of the speedomiter(including the tripomiter and the odomiter). Its just that one part that does not work (look at pic). I am not that good with wiring or electronics so please tell me in detail it at all posible. PLEASE HELP!!! I would greatly apreacite it. THANKS.

85 and earlier will have a cable-driven speedo, unless it's been 'upgraded' to the 86-92 electric type.
The one shown in your pic is the 82-84 style.

I would really like some help here if anyone can tell me what might be wrong or what I can do that might help my problem.

First thing I would check, would be whether the cable is plugged into the back of the speedo head; next if it is plugged into the trans.
What Pete would do next, would be to put the rear of the car on jackstands, unhook the cable from the speedo head, start the car, and get the rear wheels spinning to see if the inner cable was spinning. If it is, then you speedo is FUBAR'ed.
If it didn't spin, I'd then check the drive gears in the tailshaft of the trans to see if they are broken or stripped.
