I don't undestand how, but it looks like some rigging went into the wireing on my alternator. It's a 4-pin alt on an 87 tpi. the 4-pin looks like it should have a red black and white wire (possibly 10 gauge) and a 4th wire. what i have is a 10 or 14 gauge red and white, next to a 16 gauge white wire thats rigged onto the stub of a black 10 or 14 gauge, and NO 4th wire, if someone could help me out and let me know what to do with this thing that would be great cause my car will not charge like this.

oops, one more thing, the car charged intermittently before i foudn this to be the problem, when i did the blackwire pin was just barely attached to the different color wire that was rigged to it, i did my best to solidly attach it, and now the car still doesn't charge AND runs like crap.
