Headlights not working

Headlights not working
I was driving home last night from work when I noticed that it seemed dark in front of me. My normal headlights weren't on. I tried turning them on and off but nothing happened so then I hit my high beams to see if that worked and it did. I got home and checked it out and unless I have the high beam switch on my headlights won't come on. Any idea what it could be???

Did you try replacing bulbs? I know when my headlights go out the highbeams still work. Maybe both went out at same time?
