problem with fog light switch
I bought a new (used) fog light switch on ebay for my 1988 IROC. I wanted to replace it because it was faded and I am restoring the car. The seller, who is widely known as a third gen seller (Perrypam), says the fog light is universal from 1982 - 1989. It appears as though this is not true. If I am missing something, please let me know.
The 1988 IROC fog light switch that I am replacing has a four post system with an indicator light. The one I bought does not have this light, but I did not care about that. The new one I bought has two posts, instead of four posts. At first you would think big deal, but come to find out, the two posts that complete the circuit do not line up the same between these two fog lights (one is more in the middle, the other more towards the outside). To put it simply, the two post switch will not fit into the 1988 wiring harness.
I suppose it is rare, but has anybody else ever experienced this? Am I missing something? I do not want to return this part if I do not have to.

Its a different switch, the harness is different, get the right one. Not to be rude or anything but I just solved your problem.

no kidding
yes, get the right one, sounds like a good plan. The thing is, I am no expert on these cars when it comes to this level of detail, so when a respected third generation parts seller advertises an item as fitting a certain range of years, I believe them. Needless to say, since I am no expert, I thought perhaps I was missing something. Evidently not. They screwed it up, and now there mistake is my issue. Live and learn.

maybe this'll help.
I think I saw new decals for the switches somewhere on that site but I'm not sure. If the decal's worn that might be a simpler fix.
good luck
