cruise control no workie

I did a search and here's what I've eliminated:

- I have vacuum
- The brake switch is fully depressed when off the brake (I might be referring to the wrong switch, see first weird thing)

Here's the weird stuff:

- There are two mounts for switches on the brake pedal thing, one on the left and one on the right. The left hole is filled, but the hole on the right is empty. It looks like something was in the hole in the right at some point because there are marks on the brake pedal where it would have hit whatever was in the hole.
- There's something resembling a vacuum line floating around. It looks to be the same size as the larger line on the cruise unit.
- There's a random connector dangling by the brake pedal with two wires: pink w/ a black stripe and purple
- The wire for cruse (presumably) runs down the outside of the steering column vs the inside of the column. That’s not that weird, but one of the wires it plugs into into is pink w/ a black stripe (maybe the same wire as the one dangling).
- My fuse box is missing the connectors (the terminals that the fuse would connect) for the 10a circut called 'cluster'. Presumably, cluster goes along with the gauges but everything else works fine so I don’t think this is related to the problem.

Any insight would be more than welcome
