Auto-Dimming Mirror Help
Auto-Dimming Mirror Help
I have an autodimming rear view mirror from my 87 trans am GTA... the motor was making noises, so I took the mirror apart and lubed the motor, changed the rubber bands in it, and re-soldered the piece that the harness plugs into. However, now when I plug the mirror back in, it continuously dims back and forth...
Anyone have any suggestions...even moreso, does anyone have any idea where I could get a wiring diagram of the mirror?
I re-checked everything I changed....it is all the same....i don't get it....

There's a couple of sensors activated by cams on the shaft for the pulleys that should stop the motor. I would check these. When I bench tested mine sometimes the sensor didn't activate and the motor kept going around in the same direction. I think this would result in the mirror cycling as you are describing. don't let this continue as I noticed the motor would smell quite a bit even though I shut it down early.
I have a question that I hope you could help me with. where did you locate replacement belts/rubber bands for it? I need these to get mine to work.
I have a loose connector on mine too.
