Car Has no power at all

Car is a 1988 305 TPI Iroc. Car started yesterday, went to start it today, and it would crank over but wouldent start, volt meter was reading low so I charged the battery for a while. Went to try again, still wouldent start. I stopped cranking it becasue I didnt want to fry the starter motor. I turned the key to the off position the starter kept going and then I lost all power to the car. Nothing works at all. I checked the battery and it takes and holds a charge. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before? I hope I can get this fixed soon as this is my only car.

When the starter stayed stuck on, it could have overloaded the main wire that goes from the battery to the starter causing the fuseble link to pop. Look at all of the wires on the starter's terminal that goes to the battery. One of those wires might be messed up. They usually break in half. If so, replace it with another fuseble link and not just with any wire for safty reasons. Hope this helps

You were right, the fuseable link poped. I replaced it and the car now has power, but still wont start. Im getting fuel becuse dried off the plugs put them back in cranked the motor again and the plugs were soaked. Looks like I now have an ignition problem
