Starter + Fan Wiring

Ok, so I've recently discovered that my cooling fan does not work. However, the relay works (I ran the wire that goes to the fan switch to the positive terminal, it clicked away). In addition, my headlights don't work (but that's already in another post). I've always been kind of skeptical of the wiring to my starter, and I was wondering if it could be the culprit, as it was completely screwed up when I got the car, and I'm not positive I fixed it 100% correctly.
What wires should be running to what post on the starter solenoid? The top, "thicker" terminal had three orangish/redish wires with fusable links and the thick black cable to the batter, the smaller terminal had a purple wire which ran into the same harness attached to it. Is this correct? Assuming this is correct, what would prevent my fan from working when it was wired to spin, wouldn't it be a bad connection between the relay and the fan, or just a bad fan motor? How should I test for either? Hope that made sense, thanks!

It sounds like you have teh wiring at the starter done correctly. The purple wire should be on the 'S' terminal, and the main power and fusible links should be on the "BAT" terminal. Make sure teh fusible links are intact.

I believe the fuse link for the fan is in a different location, however. It should be directly tapped from the battery positive lead closer to the battery. There may be a positive power node on your Camaro, like ojn Firebirds. Check the connections there as well.

The first thing to do would be to verify that there is power present at the fan relay 'E' terminal (orange wire) at all times.

Where is this wire/terminal? Also, how should I test the fusible links? Thanks.

not sure how much help this will be, but if you disconnect the connector at the relay, i think you should be getting power there at the large orange wire. if not, there may be an in-line fuse for those relays. i say that because there is on my '91, not sure if the same holds true for yours. mine was located by the battery, attached to the fender, orange wire, in a black plastic case type thing. hope that helps...

This should be the same, no? If not, back up one page and pick the correct Engine VIN.
