help me ID this harness
I bought this harness of ebay .... guy said it was from a 89 trans am that had TBI .... but the ecm harness is clearly a carburated harness ..... but the dash harness has 1 injector fuse, it's definately a trans am harness, the engines main electrical harness is setup for the "small style" distributor and a single fan and looks like it also is setup for the serpentine style alternator plug and headlight module.
the dash harness is my biggest concern in know this is a "true" 89 dash harness, heres some things that it has and doesnt have.
fuse box says injector 1 & injector 2 but there isn't any terminals in the injector 1 space but the injector 2 space has a fuse .... on the bottom side of the fuse box there is a seperate fuse holder this looks factory installed, the colors of the wires are one is solid red, the other is red with a white stripe ... I don't see vats wiring which I know the 89's had .... there is a speed buffer the fuel pump wiring is setup to to come through the floor pan behind the rear seat back the radio plugs look just like the ones in my 84 trans am, and I was pretty sure GM changed the radio plugs at some point ...... the single injector fuse though leaves me to believe its a 4 banger harness.
any who needs specific wire color and location please let me know I need to get my TBI motor running and so far this harness doesnt look right for what I need

IIRC, there were no carbureted engine in '89 F-Bodies, even the export models.
Also, there were no 4-cylinder F-cars in '89.
The factory often used the vacant positions in the fuse panel for other devices, rather than create an entirely new fuse panel.
Have any photos of the injector harness connections?

the ecm harness is definately a carburated harness, I'm almost going to go out on a limb and say this harness is a 1987 and never going to work for what I need it for.
will a 1988 TPI dash harness support a 89 TBI system with repinning.

if it definitly doesnt have VATs wiring then its probably from an 88. im not sure why you would want vats anyhow, you will need to change your ignition solenoid and run a computer that has a prom with vats enabled (89-92), the key you use will need to be matched to the vats module as well for everything to work. that harness only has one injector fuse because TBI uses 2 injectors that fire at the same time, they are on the same circuit so there is only 1 fuse.

because I dont live in such a nice area ... thats why I want vats and I do have all necessary vats stuff in the car just need a harness, see I had a 89 camaro with v-8 and tbi, unfortunately the dash harness is quite different. this is why I need a harness all this is going into my 1982 trans am
