VSS differences?

I pulled a 140 mph 89 Formula cluster from the junkyard. Now I did a search and found most of the info about installing the cluster into our 85 (mechanical speedo) T/A. Problem is, I don't know which VSS came on the Formy.

Does anyone know which VSS we would need to use to hook it into the 85? (305 TPI 700R4, 3.45 posi)

Even better question would be, can we just go back to the junkyards looking under any F-body w/ 700r4 tranny and take the VSS?

you will also need to get the speed buffer & it's connector & wiring.
as far as i know, the birds & camaros with electronic clusters used the same VSS so it should would work. you will probably
need the gear off the output shaft of the trans too, but a trip to the dealer should get you the right 1.

Thanks, thats what I needed to know....
Now I know that 2.8 V6 cars got 3.42 gears out back, so I'm gonna safely assume these gears will work w/ a 3.45 rear end.
