Overhead console wiring

Transmission: Automatic
Overhead console wiring
I bought an overhead console a few months ago and was about to install it when I realized the wiring was way different. The console has 3 wires (white, orange, and black). The wiring going to the old light in the car has 2 wires (both white). Would I still be able to wire this up?

I mounted my console so long ago that I truly don't remember what color the wires to the dome light were. I don't think the color problem is significant, however. Screw the black wire to ground, then trial fit by stripping and twisting the remaining two pairs. You've got a 50% chance of being correct--if not swap and you're there. Running a complete harness under the headliner and down the a-pillar would be a PITA since you'd stand a good chance of breaking something, and of course, you'd need to know where the harness ended. If you choose to do that, check the following link toward the bottom which shows the a-pillar and various fasteners:
