Hatch problems one more time

Tried to search and found posts close but maybe i'm just a bone head when it comes to electrical stuff. Anyway my hatch is stuck in the up position...the hatch unlocks with a key or the release button. Fuses are ok...both acc and lid.... in fact I have power to both the outside wires on the lower limit switch and the cargo light. Nothing appears broken in the mechanical part of the slides or anything. It was in storage in my garage and was working awhile back then one day I noticed it open a bit and wouldn't close (kids maybe).
When I trip the striker switch nothing happens except the cargo light goes out. Is there a way to jumper power to the motor to see if it is the motor or not and which wires do I jump?...right now I suspect the lower limit switch or the striker switch is bad but I would like to confirm this by by passing it. I know this subject has been covered alot so please bear with me I am kind of at a loss as to how to proceed. TIA

I have had similar problems myself.
What I did was take the unit apart, and took the motor out.....all you have to do is attach a positive and negative wire from the battery to the motor itself....you'll see the place to connect to the motor once u have it out.....
It doesn't matter which way u connect the wires....if it doesn't work one way, switch up the wires....
This will tell you if your motor is bad.
If the motor is good....then it is either the harness or the relay.

Trickster sent me the wiring diagram for it but it doesn't seem like many of the wire colors are the same so I may have to do like you suggest and just see if the motor works and work backwards from there. Thanks for the input.

yeah, for me, hand's on is a lot better than wiring diagrams.
It doesn't take too long either, so....
Good luck either way!
lemme know if you need anything else...i only know what I say from working with mine...and....i have 3 different units that I have used, and am still able to use.
So, if you need a motor lemme know!

Just an update:
Got sick of trying to figure out the wiring...the colors weren't the same as the diagram and I tried jumping the wires every which way with a couple of blown fuses and no luck......anyway took the whole unit out and tested from the motor backwards...motor worked so I started reassembling it again...connected the grounds up and the wiring harness and as soon as I pluged it in it finished cycling up and stopped. As soon as I pushed the hatch down it sucked it right down and stopped with a "click" Repeated it several times....don't know if it was a bad connection from sitting for a couple of years or what...I was thinking (because I had already plugged and unplugged all the wires a few times) that maybe there was a bad ground

Anyway....thanks to all who helped and now all I need to do is get the exhaust finished (hooking up the new 3" cat back system tomorrow) and I'm ready top go!!! The best kind of repair...$0 and a little time.
