Car will not crank

Hey guys;

Tried to start my car today and it would not crank, no click or anything from the solenoid....checked the battery and connections to starter and all seemed well (had power for everything else). So what i did was use a wire to jump from the crank fuse to live fuse (with key in on position) and it started up.

So....I know its not the starter or wiring to the starter so I am thinking it may have something to do with either the ignition switch or the neutral/park switch. Would anyone know which it may be or how i can check if they are bad? Also where is the neutral safety switch located?

Thanks, Kyle

PS car is 87 firebird 350TPI/Auto

the nuetral safety switch is located on the base of the shifter. have you tried to put the car in nuetral and see if it would start then?
