hey i just took my door off and im preping and painting the door i got from a yard. the last time i started my car was sunday and today i didnt have any homework and it was a nice day so i said, im gonna start my car, its warm ect.
when i went to start it... dead, nothing so i charged my battery and i put it on "on" and i got this idiot light that kinda looks like this { I / I } but theres a dot in the middle of the slash.
well i found out that the draw was a "door ajar" light or sumthin because there was no door so thats reasonable, and i thought that was the light for a door ajar, but when i started my car it went away and my driver door was wide open. does anybody know what this light is?

 

thats the choke light, your alternator may not be charging which will cause it to come on so have it checked and see how many volts the battery has.

 

i just put on a new alternator about a month ago the old one was beond shot.
would a bad battery have the same effect?
and there electric chokes right, so could it be the choke also
what does the "choke light" mean, or could it be a number of problems?
