Amp size for battery

I'm going to replace the battery in my car It currently has a 70amp battery, I'm going to put in a hypertech coil soon and Install some high-watt audio equipment on my car in the near future.

My questions are ;

1- Can anyone tell me the original amp rate of the battery that came with 88 gta's?

2- I'm thinking of putting in a 90 or 115 amp battery in my car, my friends told me If I put in a battery more than the car can handle it could screw up my electronics. Is that true? I have a 105amp Alternator. Would 115amp battery be a problem for my car or a 90 amp?

3- Anyone know what is the biggest size battery that can fit into the original location (I also have a summit box so I'm thinking of Installing it into the trunk rather than the original location)

Thanks

Hello << K-O >>,
Your battery would not be rated at 75 AMPS. It would be rated in Cranking AMPS (CA) & Cold Cranking AMPS (CCA) both of which are in the several hundred AMP range. There were several batteries that came in the 1988 firebirds depending on the engine. They had a range of 525 CCA to 630 CCA and a load test of 260 to 310 AMPS depending on the battery and engine.
For your car with the LB9 engine, it came with a battery that had a CCA range of 525 to 570. The load test range was 260 to 280 AMPS.

Actually most auto batteries are rated in Amp/Hours, the standard size for a thirdgen is a 75A/H battery. CCA and Load test ratings are the maximum current ratings that can be drawn from the battery for a given short period of time before the battery is internally damaged from the high current being drawn. AC Delco has an 85A/H battery that should fit with a 995 CCA rating for a little over 90 bucks. It's well worth it if you plan a a bigger stereo. You will not have a problem with the gen or electronics with a larger battery, the stock 105 gen will keep it maintained. Remember the gen only keeps the battery at about 75% or so of rated capacity. It's always a good idea to trickle charge the battery once a month, you will be surprised at how much longer that battery will last.
