Ecm?

The cc carb & dist have been replaced with a regular Q-jet and 4-pin HEI unit. Is it possible to remove the ECM to clean up the engine bay? Is there anything else that would be affected by its removal?

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction to it's step-by-step removal. I have the haynes manual, but the wiring diagrams go from V6 to fuel injected V8, with nothing illustrated for the CC carbed 84'. I am also running a mechanical fuel pump, and have the cooling fan on a separate circuit already. It's a 5 speed tranny. Should I be able to rip the sucker right out?

p.s. I did a search but could only find articles pertaining to efi to carb conversion.

OK, I just found an old thread with something similar. As far as I can tell, I should be able to remove it.

Yes you can remove it. Just do it carefully and slowly so you do not remove the real wires. Just follow the wires from the ecm so you know which ones to pull. Make sure your dizzy is not Computer controlled anymore!

Thanks for replying! Yeah, I have an older HEI dist. in there now.

I have to swap the cam this weekend, and want to clean up the engine bay a little, basically removing anything not being used.
