vats resistance

I found a decoder box for my 91 harness, but how do I figure out what resistance to use to fool the vats now ..... does any numbers on the decoder box tell what resistance to use.

No, there are no numbers on the decoder box to let you know what the resistance value is. The reason for this is that they are all blank until the first time the car is started with a coded key. That resistance value is then permanently encoded into it and cannot be changed. You might be able to take it to a dealership and let them try to read the encoded resistance value or go to a locksmith that has that capability.

ok let me ask you this .... my ecm isnt vats enabled, will the car crank with the starter enable relay hooked up or can all the vats stuff be just left unplugged and the car will start.

If the car does not have a computer that has the vats capability you can bypass the starter enable relay by splicing the wires at pin "A" & "E" together. The vats control module does not even have to be installed.

on a 89 vats decoder there is a green wire, where does it go, on my 90-92 harness where the 89's green wire is there is a black wire with yellow strip, my 89 vats decoder wont plug into this 90-92 harness aside from the color differences I thought I would just change the plug,.

so does this black wire with yellow stripe go to the same place the 89's green wire does aside from this all the wires are in the same place and are the same color.

also whats the difference between a 89 tbi ecm and a 90-92 tbi ecm and ecm harness.

thanks
