I want to run a second battery but...

Ok here is the deal. I have a redtop battery in my car right now but I want to run another redtop in series as I have a sorta big stereo and alot of electronic accessories in my car. I wanted to run he second battery on the driverside as I noticed that there seems to be a battery tray sitting there however the problem is this...there is this round can like thing there and I have no idea what its for and if I even need it for my car to run properly...or for that matter if I could relocate it somwheres else and put the second battery there. Reason for wanting to put the second battery up front instead of in the trunk is it will be easier to wire up in series.

Any advice on this would be great

Please don't run your batteries in series unless you want a fire.

The round thing is a charcoal canister. It has to do with emmisions. So unless your taking off all of your emmisions equipment I couldn't recommend removing it. If you find somewhere to relocate it that should be fine as long as everything is hooked up. I'm not an expert on anything so if i'm wrong somebody correct me please.

series would give you 24V, and burn up just about everything in your car. I think you meant parallel, in order to have more amperage at hand.

That is a good place to put your battery, run some nice thick wire to it... The charcoal canister can be removed, (as is mine), but from what I understand it'll give you a bit of a "gassy" smell... And if you have to pass emissions....
You can probably relocate it easily, use your imagination...

uh yeah Paralell sorry I get them confused. I know how to wire it but the terms weren't with me on that one. Does the charcoal canister have to sit flat or can I get away with a horizontal mounting?
