Best firewall grommet for fan switch wire
Ill be wireing up Willie's fan control curcuit idea, but anyway i want to have a switch right above the radio location. Iv never ran wires through a firewall, so i have no idea what im in for behind there. Is there an easy place to run wire from the battery area to the center dash area?? Mostly i would like to find out the best place to run through the firewall.
Im also thinking about having the switch where the ashtray is, but that would basically be the same route for the wire.
thanks anyone

I've got my fan switch right between my power window switches. If you look on the firewall, down low on the pasenger side of the brake booster, you should see a grommet you can push out. It's there on both my cars, and it leads to just above and behind the brake pedal. There's even an x cut in the insulation. Then I simply ran the wire to my center console, bam.

thanks man, thats just the kind of answer i was hoping for. i had seen that one and it looked kind of far from the battery area, but if its easy to run wire from the inside then thats worth it.

No problem. If your battery is on the passenger side, then yeah I'd just cover the wire and run it across the firewall with all the other wiring. Should be fine that way.

Dunno what your wiring is trying todo right now, so maybe this doesnt apply, but why are you running all the way down to the battery? The fan relay is right above that grommet hes talking about

Oh, im going to install the Derale adjustable fan relay that is talked about in Willie's fan control article. Im going to mount i nest to the battery since most of the wires will be connected up by the fan.
also, iv heard other people say the fan relay is up on the driver side firewall, but mine is up by the pass side fan/battery area. i am 100% sure it is the fan relay thers no dought aout it, must be different years and all. Willie's fan curcuit also calls for another relay to open/close the ground for the adjustable relay, which will disable/enable it so that you can switch back to stock for emissions tests. That one may as well go nest to the new adjustable one.
