Electric Fan
I have an '86 Camaro Z28 that I think came stock with an electric fan. Right now the fan is always energized with the key in 'ON'. I pulled the diagram and it looks to be a simple electrical setup. If anyone has ideas other than the coolant fan switch or the fan relay, speak up. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me where those 2 items are located. The computer doesn't have anything to do with energizing the fan, does it?

Is that the original engine in your car and is it the fuel injected model or the carburated model. The schematic that you have shown there is for the carburated model.

It is now a 350, stock was a 305. It is a VIN H car. I've got a lot of work to do to make the car emissions legal.

Fan switch is in pass side cyl head, relay on firewall by brake booster. The computer doesn't turn on the fan, but the A/C does. You should be able to figure it out with the diagram you have.

on my 86 TPI the relay is right by the battery. very close to the fan so the high amp travels a shorter distance. and the temp switch for the ECM is in the front middle of the intake manifold.
this is for my single fan 86 IROC tho, possibly the relay may be in a different spot but that sensor will still be in the manifold. the senser in the driver head goes to the guage in the dash

POS Camaro, if you have the whole manual, look near the section where the picture you posted is located. There is a component locator in there that might help finding the relay.

Right now there is no sensor in the passenger head in the front portion. I don't have the complete '86 book, just the prints from the 'net. I do have the book for the '85, is that the same? I'm thinking that I need the temperature sensor and the relay.

Sensor is on pass side between exhaust ports on cyl's 6 & 8. I think the wiring is the same, look to see if the picture in your 85 book looks like the one posted (this all looks the same as my 84). Try and figure out why it is always running (or if someone hacked it to do so) before just replacing parts.
