gauge lights

can someone tell me which wires are responsible for the gauge lights....my interior lights, headlights, and parking lights all work, just not the gauge lights. the fuses are ok, so that is why i think it's a wire. the bulbs are ok too.

1988 firebird 2.8 mpfi

thanks

Have you thought about the "Remote Dimmer" being bad? This will cause the guage lights to not work.

u mean the connection from the dimmer to the gauges? the connection from the dimmer to the dome lamp works.

No, I mean the transistorized Remote Dimmer that is between the fuse and the light switch. It sort of looks like this.

thanks. i'll check it. while i was down there the other day, i did find a couple of wires that were cut by rubbing on this metal bracket. i don't remember the colors....i THINK one was pink. i put them back together and blocked it form the bracket, but that didnt help.

Check the fuses again..if you only checked the "light" fuse, id still i'd pull em 1 by one ...if the wire was cut in half by that bracket, odds are they blew a fuse or 2. Also, if it blew a fuse, and multiple things are tied into it, it may explain your lighting problem.

i checked all the fuses...they're ok. the gauge lights don't work, but the "check engine" light does and the high beam indicator and turn signal indicators work. i've heard of this one part, but i don't know it's name at a part store. i've heard it been called a "remote dimmer module", "switching transistor", "second dimmer switch", "power transistor","transistorized Remote Dimmer", and "dimmer switch" what is it that i probably need? i know that the floor board and dome lights come on when i turn the wheel all the way up...if that helps. thanks

Have you tried replacing the switch? Could have gone bad!
