I'm confused as to where my computer port is or where it should be. Here is a photo where I believe the port should be. If not, where is it. I have an '82 Firebird.

I know the car has been converted to carb, but this shouldn't be a reason to hack out wiring. I hate when people do that, just leave the wiring there

Hi,
This is real funny bucause the DIAG Connector wiring is part of the dash wiring.
If you go all over this board, you will find many guys that are ripping out the computer harness and converting the car over to carb.
Now I understand that some of these cars are being used for drag racing, racing off road etc, and that OK.
But for cars that are being driven on the road, the ECM computer is our friend. The ECM/CCC maintains the proper Fual/Air ratio. timing ETC.
When I installed the TPI motor in my 82 Firebird I did not change any of the orginal wiring. Yes the original computer harness came out. The new computer harness was wired into the car at the same connector that was orginaly connected to the CCC computer for the LG4 engine. No modifacations was made to the fuse box etc.
I have not had any electical system problems with the orginal wiring to the car in 23 years of ownership. I have only one problem with wiring on the new computer harness and that was caused by the accident in 2002.
So the moral of this story is not to change the orginal wiring of the car.
