Hatch Solenoid problem
I just upgraded my hatch pull down motor to a pull down release motor. However getting the solenoid grounded is a nightmare.
I have been able to activate the solenoid on the front end of the car by making the solenoid touch bare metal and the tapping the release wire on the positive terminal.
I grounded the solenoid to where the pull down ground is on the car. It still doesn't work. I've tried to grind different areas across the rear of the body to make a clean surface for a ground.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The hatch solenoid is from an 87 trans am, and the pull down unit is from an 86 camaro. I still have the solenoid that belongs to the 86 pull down motor, and I also still have the pull down motor for the 87 solenoid.
I'm installing the motor on an 87 std camaro.
