tach reading way off

it looks like my tach is reading about 2X what it should be, i've read some of the previous threads talking about people having similar problems, but i couldn't find a good solution. Does anybody know for sure??

the problem is the stock tach sucks, and as it ages, it gets worse.

My tach does the same thing. I'm working on a fix ... hopefully I'll have one soon. Wake up this thread in a few weeks and I should have the fix by then and post results.

i had a similiar problem. the magnet must go bad in there or whatever. i just wired a aftermarket one in. was pretty easy didnt take very long. it was laughable to see how badly off it actualy is sometimes.

Seems like I read on here somewhere that a capacitor goes bad on the back of the cluster.... I think it even had a pic. There it is.... https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=233157
Oh yea, I pulled my radiator, cleaned the fins out, replaced the thermostat because it was running hot. Afterwards I did some datalogging only to find out that the factory temp gauge shows 20* high. Guess that could be my temp sender, though.
