Auto Dim Mirror

I need a wiring diagram for an auto dim mirror that was found in camaros and firebirds! Has the dial on it for distance, and also has a switch on it that can be turned to auto or off! The picture is from a mirror on ebay that looks identical to mine! Any help will be helpful! If its wired up the right way the green light should come on, correct? Theres 3 wires coming out the back, I don't have the mirror in front of me right now, but if i'm not mistaking theres a black, green, and green/brown! Thanks Jim

For the automatic day/night mirror for your car there should be three wires to it. A light green wire that goes to pin "D" of the "park/Neutral" switch (back-up lights), a red wire that goes to the "GAGES" fuse, and a black wire for ground. If you have a manual transmission that light green wire would go to the back-up switch.

Do you have a wiring diagram to the park/neutral switch? I don't understand pin D! Also, does the green light light up when its working properly? Can I test the mirror by putting the green and red wire to a constant hot? One more thing, a picture and description on where the park/neutral switch is will be a great help! I got the green wire run to the fuse that says IGN (right next to the Guage Fuse), but theres still another connector that I don't know what is for on the same wire, and there's no fuse hooked up to it! Please help Trickster!

Hey SOX 19,
I'm out here, just had a few other items to take care of first. The Park/Neutral switch is on the shifter assembly under the center console and has six wires going to it. I will e-mail the schematics and trouble guide to you.

Thanks Trickster, your work on this is greatly appreciated! I got the email, I am just trying to figure this out! I'm usually very good with wiring, but this has confused the hell out of me, and I hope to get it wired in tomorrow! The plug on the wire going to the guage fuse, but the clip that came on the wire doesn't fit in the slot for the fuse, but it fits in the slot for IGN, does this matter?

Okay, I am back!! You asked about putting the wire for the guages fuse into the IGN slot on the fuse block. If you will drop the fuse panel down and look at the back of it you will see a white connector there that is for the automatic mirror. It will be the one closest to the gages fuse. Yes you can just find a spot an splice into the wire going to pin "D" of the P/N switch.

Ok, I think its wired to where it should be, check it out and let me know! The green wire is all I have left, and I have to run to Pep Boys to pick up some wire and connectors. The first picture is the red wire, it has 2 connectors on it, and all i am using is one as seen in picture 2, what is the other used for? Picture 2 is from behind the fuse block, and Picture 3 is the Park/Neutral Switch! I splice my light green wire from my mirror to the green wire on the connector! Let me know if I am doing everything right, before I burn out the mirror!

Hooked all the wires up to where they're suppose to be, and the mirror isn't working, tested all the wires, and the voltage is there! Must have gotten a bad mirror. Sucks having done all this work and have it not work. Now I am on the hunt for another mirror, if you can think of anything else on why its not working let me know!

Trickster,
I got the Mirror to work finally, went to the local junk yard, picked up another for $2, plugged it in, and poof it worked. I had a feeling I had a bad mirror, I thought it would have worked if I hooked up 2 constant powers and a ground, but it didn't! Well, now its all hooked up the right way, thanks to you, and it works, which is the best part. Thanks again for all your help, I contact you if I need anything else!

Jim
