i removed the stock radio today as i plan to put an aftermarket hu in within the next few weeks.

But i noticed a funny problem when i had to turn the headlights on tonight.

When i turn them on a constant dinging noise starts, no dash or gear-shift lights turn on and the dash lights go funny, like the high-beam and indicators.

I have to hold down the little switch button to make the dinging noise stop. But still the dash lights do not turn on, and i cant see any speedo's etc.

Its obviously got something to do with removing the radio and not replacing it with something, but is there a way to stop this? Im not going to be egtting a new hu within a few weeks and i dont wanna put the stock one back in.

any help appreciated thx.

In my car (85 TA) my dash lights would not work. I had to wire in the "dim" signal for the radio for the lights to work properly.

Check your wiring diagrams (you have a book right? ) if not be polite, and talk to Trickster ( is that his name?)

 

i had another look at it this morning and its even weirder, when i turn the lights on all the guages go down to 0. Speedo, fuel pressure, voltage, everything. It all drops down to 0.

Its pretty stupid, just because there is no radio, doesnt mean the rest of the electronics shouldn't work, i dunno why they wud of wired it like that.
