Alternator Question

Im going to need to replace my alternator, I think it's 100 amps but I'm not sure. If I install a 140 amp alternator do I risk damaging the engine or electrical components?

In electronics class we were taught that Amperage is potential energy. By installing a larger one your only giving yourself more potential. The car should only pull however much power it needs.

you are right about that

also when you upgrade to larger amps, the cable should also be upgraded too

i put a 170 in her car
rock solid at idle with everything on and running.

i seriously recommend the CS140, higher output at idle over a cs130

100 amps is plenty unless you have a real radical stereo system. Whether it's a 130 or 144 you won't see much difference until you reach about 2500 RPM. Unless you have higher than normal demand on the electrical system 100 is plenty.
