I'm moving this thread here from body and interior, because the topic kind of branched off into a seperate discussion.

I have a 91 GTA and am trying to replace the shift lever (with cruise control).

Question 1: How do I get to the location of the plug for the controls? In the other thread, they said that the pad under the dash just drops down, and the new one should be there. This is not the case in my car. I just removed the pad, and the plug is definately located in the steering column. The wire coming off the shift lever isn't even long enough to reach that far down the column. So, how do I remove the plastic that is surronding the column? Please dont tell me the steering wheel needs to come off.

Question 2: How do I pull the old lever out? I was told it was just as simple of yanking it out. But elsewhere I was told I need to twist and pull.
