Trouble codes
I had a problem, last night when i started my car i noticed my eletrical reading was a little unstable, after i started driving the reading stabilized, but was a lil higher than normal, shortly after i noticed this my Check engine soon light came on, i noticed no real problems, temp, oil pressure, everything looked ok, when i woke up this morning and drove to get some paper clips to check the trouble code, there was no problems, no check engine light, so i got home and ran the code test with the paper clip as i had seen on the forums, it came out with this
Code 12
code 12
code 12
code 43
code 43
code 43
and then it repeated the pattern over again, and on that 43 code, thats 4 blinks, pause, 3 blinks
Code 12

Your code 12 is a normal code and only means the distributor is not sending a signal to the ECM. Your code 43 is for the Electronic Spark Control circuit. It is normal for each code to flash three times before going to the next one. If you had sat and watched it for awhile you would have seen it start repeating itself until you pulled the tool out of the ALDL.
Have you adjusted the timing lately?

I havent adjusted my timing lately, no, and yeah i did watch it and noticed that the codes kept repeating, so this 43 code means that i need to have my timing adjusted.... Thanks for the help!
no, it means that the computer isn't getting any response from the electronically controlled ignition advance in the distributor. The computer controls the ignition advance,if it senses that the distributor is ignoring what the computer tells it to do then it sends out a code.It is usually either the little ignition module in the distribor causing this problem or in my case it was the computor itself.there are trouble shooting charts to help narrow it down.
