H4 wiring

Ok here's the deal, I bought all of the h4 conversion headlights, the DOT approved glass lensed ones. Then I bought the painless wiring harness with the 30 amp fuse and 2 40 amp relays. Next I paid this performance shop to hook it all up for me.....

Now comes the problem. First off as soon as you turn on the lights they started producing a lot of heat, which needless to say later caused one of the lenses to crack. Second the lights aren't nearly as bright as I expected, especially being run directly from the battery .

Well the guy who did the install said that he had never done this swap before, and I was wondering what if anything he did wrong. Oh he also said that he cut and spliced the new painless harness, and I thought that it was just plug and play.

Any and all info is greatly needed and appreciated.

how many watts are the H4 bulbs rated for?

and i didnt know painless made a kit for this. a 40 amp relay does no good if its limited by a 30 amp fuse. A 30 amp relay would have worked.

the guy probably did it right. i dont know. camaro guys fill me in...

The bulbs are 60/55W. I could be wrong about the 30 amp fuse, I'll have to double check. It's on jegs website though if you want to check it out.
