amp rating for ecm main power?
amp rating for ecm main power?
anyone know what or if there is a specific amp fuse rating for the main ecm wiring in general. the ecm in question is a 99 z28, while i doubt it would matter much the harness i have runs it direct to the battery without a fuse which doesn't seem right. i'd like to add one just in case but i'm not sure what the correct size would be. anyone have an idea?

The ECM is running straight off the battery??!!! Yeah, that's not right. The fuse in the fuse block should be 15 amps. Where the main power wire splits off to the ECM, you should be able to add an inline blade style fuse holder. Unless I'm completely confused at how your system is set up.

i bought the harness from howell engineering. it said directly to the battery with no fuse on the main lead. i ask because it doesn't seem right so i plan to add a fuse yes.
some have said 10, others have said 15. it's a 14 ga. wire if that helps.

That is interesting...does the stock ECM wiring control anything else? 20 amps seems like a lot for just an ECM...
Maybe a 10 amp fuse would be more in line with the 14 guage wiring...

the wire is suppose to go directly to the battery. this is of course for newer lsx style ecms, while i wouldn't see that they require more i guess anything is possible.
