weird blinker issue, stays on
I am having some issues with my blinkers. I have put all new bulbs in all fuses are good. WHen I put the blinker on the backs come on and just stay on solid. I get nothing at all from the fronts. I also get nothing in the cluster. The front marker lights work as parking lamps when the lights are on but they will not blink or even get brighter when the blinkers are turned on. Could this be something in the column or turn signal switch? THis car is a 91 and it use to have a airbag but is now gone. There was a lot of crap in the column that had to be removed and I really dont want to have to get back in there. Isnt there something like a cam gear device in there?

Do they work with the hazards? Have you checked the turn signal flasher located on the right side of the steering column under the dash? Have you checked all the sockets and grounds?

Only the backs will blink when the hazards are on. The flasher was replaced and I ahve checked the grounds under the hood. I have also put all new bulbs in all the sockets. The front markers will turn on when the lights are on but thats it. The indicators in the dash do not light up either even if thehazrds are on. I have put all new auto meter gauges in the clusters but I dont think that that is the cause of the problem. The turn signal lever does click back to the nuetral postion when the wheel is straightened back out. I found 2 grounds under the hood that are connected to the harness for the front lights. Are there anymore?
Also, not sure if this is related but the stupid buzzer never shuts off after I start the car. You kow the buzzer that warns you that you left the lights on. I have to unplug it.

yeah, there IS a cam in the steering wheel, but that simply sets the lever back into the neutral position after you turn, I personally dispise those things cause I have gone through 3 of them...but I am now an expert on tearing apart my steering column! I am not sure why it would be doing that though. I would say keep checkin your wiring. and good luck with it man.

I would go for wiring. the reason the rears are on solid is the flasher unit is UNDER loaded due to the fronts not working. check for voltage on the plug on the steering columb. Lite blue wire for left and dark blue for right. If voltage is there, check same at bulb connectors. if volts there its got to be earth/neutral. Black wires linking to headlamps. GOOD LUCK
