I have a 1984 Camaro berlinetta with a 305 lg4 engine code. I have a new alternator and a new battery. I have had both tested. My gauge showing my alternators power is always on zero and it does not charge the battery what so ever. Ive checked the wires and the fusible links. now im at my wits end. I also get a constant clicking comming from the carburetor after the car has ran and i turn off the motor. It basically seems the alternator isnt charging the battery. The wires look good though. Please send a reply Im stuck with a car that wont run. Please help any one?

The gauge is showing 0 even with the ignition on? You should be getting some type of power showing on the gauge. It's possible that there is a bad wiring problem under the dash, or the gauge is messed up. Start the car and put a volt meter on the battery and see if you are getting like 13.7-14.1 volts. It's possible something is wrong with the plug going into the alternator as well and the alternator is not getting the signal to start charging.

If you are having a no charge condition with your car after replacing the battery and alternator. May I recommend replacing the CHOKE HEATER RELAY which is located in the convenience center under the dash near the ALDL.
