TA headlights go up... dont go down.
the headlights go up on my gf's 89 ta but they do not go back down. both started doing this at the same time...
i thought it might be the headlight control relay, so i replaced it and they still don't work. i've also replaced the switch in the dash and that did not fix the problem either.
if one headlight needs a 'rebuild' will it cause both not to go up/down?

if your car is like my 86 ta, there are 3 relays in the system. 2 of them controle only one headlight motor and the other relay works both of your headlights. if there is a short in your headlight isolation relay(i think thats what is called) it could cause your lights to do that.
i was not able to find the right relay for it, even from the dealer. i just hooked up a 3 way toggle switch to my lights. now they both go up and down fine. i know it's kinda ghetto, but it beats popping the hood and dong it manually.

I just got a 85 TA (Im a camaro guy)
Lights worked fine since I got the car. Now all of a sudden lastnight they wont go up. They come on but wont pop up now. They do go down.
Where are these 3 relays for the system?

There are three relays as mentioned. There is a relay on the left hand fender behind the left headlight, another one behind the right hand headlight on the left side of it. The third relay is the isolation relay, it is located behind the right hand headlight.

And the original person posting has a 89. Don't you hate it when a thread has been hijacked? I just think it is important to keep reminding everyone of the differences in the two headlight actuator systems. So often (as in this thread) I'll see someone with a 82-86 relating how they resolved the problem on their car to someone with a 87-92. The two are different and require different solutions.
