major electrical problem

well i will begin reassembling my iroc, it has been stripped and different rear end, motor, trans, and interior are going in.. now my problem is i started this build with some melted wires and the person before cut all the harnesses of underneath the hood. so how do i make it all work again, should i just buy a painless kit or try to fix, i am not running fuel injection anymore, nor a/c, just the basics. any help would be greatly apprecitaed, or where i would be able to find out what all the wires run too.

This link was pretty helpful for me...

I would review that, and decide what you want to do in terms of wiring. Painless kits are not cheap, if that sways your decision.

I always vote for try it yourself first. If you get it, great!! If not, it didn't hurt you.
I think you'd be able to do it yourself though.
