Is an 85 wiring harness different than a 86-89 wiring, painless only list 86-89and 90-92, if so whats the major difference, and will it work for an engine swap.

 

the 86-89 and 90-92 could have more or less wires, for accessories, however should work for an engine swap as all the power wires needed for an engine swap are the same from 82-92.

Those harnesses could be for throttle body or fi as well - just a thought.

Other then extra wires in the bay, there were additional options in the later years, as anything from electric mirrors, airbag, etc. which could yield more wires on the interior.

I personally modified two existing harnesses to work for my application so I must admit I may have looked at painless, but decided against it and lack any hands on experience with the product.

I'm sure others have used them and will drop by this thread sooner or later...
