Starter problem? Absolutley stumped

Ok heres the deal friday night i started the camaro to go to a show and i got a "clunk" out of the starter but it fired, Got caught in the rain friday night but the car was fine went to start it saturday night got a clunk, tried again got another clunk and now absolutely nothing out of the starter, got a new one figuring even if it wasnt the problem, the original one from 91 probaly didnt have much left, put the new one in and it still has absolutely nothing, no clicking, thunking nothing, i cna turn the motor over by the crank, I have condinuity from the battery to the starter and all the fusible links have condinuity, i have power at the terminals, the battery is good even put another battery in and nothing, disconectted the alarm thinking maybe it was kicking the starter disable and got nothing and also checked the neutral safety and wiring on the shifter(b+m) and everything looks good.

My dads gonna come over and take a look tomorrow see if he cant figure it out, i never have had a issue with wiring and this is blowing my mind, could the fusible links be bad even though they show condunuity and power to the starter, the guy at the parts store said the cable from the batt. to the starter may have too much resistance and that could cause it he said do a voltage drop test on it and if it shows more than 1.1 its the cable, didnt get around to checking that could it be it? ANy ideas?

What exactly do you mean by a clunk though? Was the clunk before it started, during the starting or after is disengaged? You have it shimmed correctly and its not sticking? The flywheel doesn't have damaged teeth? Of course if the starter isn't actually doing anything, damaged teeth wouldn't be the problem.

Hmmmm, I didn't see the year on your car before replying, but if you have VATS, that could cause the starter to not do anything if VATS had gone bad in some fashion. I wish I had better suggestions. I'm more familiar with my 79 TA starter(as I've had it out of the car about 100 times for various reasons)

Get a volt meter and measure the terminals. Maybe the solenoid isn't getting power. Also, you can't measure continuity on a meter if you didn't disconnect the battery cable (just in case you did).

Ok my dad checked it out today while i was at work and said the same thing everything in the starter circuit checks out ok...WE're hearing a clicking coming from the relay for the VATS, i originally thought it was the rod for the ignition was what i was hearing, getting a new relay from gm, hoping its not the VATS module, since thats like 285 bucks, if the relay doesnt correct anything i am going to have to yank the column and see if i cant find something screwy on the wiring for the vats a tthe ignition switch.

Anyone have a real good diagram of the wiring for teh VATS system on a 91 camaro rs????
