Fuse replace, blown, replace, blown...

Ok, my accecories fuse keeps blowing. The inside lights, horn, power door locks, hatch release, and a thing or two I can't remember don't work. I replaced the fuse a couple of times and it still blows as soon as I put it in. I replaced it with the 25 amp that it came with. What is the most likely culpret for this? I know that there is probably a wire grounding out somewhere in the car, but what is it most likey to be? I don't want to take apart the whole inside of my car to find it. Thanks in advance.

maybe try unplugging things one at a time that are tied to the crcuit and see what happens. If the fuse dont blow after something is unplugged, check the wiring/connections between that cicuit and see what you find. Take out the dome light bulb, take the door lock switches out and unhook one at a time, put a fuse in, you get the idea.

Ok, its obviously a short (sorry)

I just wrote a whole paragraph for you, but I realized that there is a much easier way of telling whats wrong.

Since your fuse is blowing as soon as you put it in, there are only few things that could be wrong.

1. Check to see if your buttons are pressed in.
Most likely you have your fog light switch pressed in, so everytime you put in the fuse it blows all your accessories. I had that same problem.

2. If all of your buttons are in off position and you still blow fuses, than its your lights.

The easiest way to check lights is to see where they go, and where they meet metal. Usually the shorts show up around bends such as doors, and if the rubber in firewall bad. I think that you should check to see if all the connection to those lights are fine. Just pull the light out and see if the wire is still there. Sometime they get loose too.

I think it might be your fog switch pressed in, and the wire for it is grounded badly.
If not than its your lights.

Just make sure all of your buttons and accessories are off when you put in fuse.
If you still blow it than, it is your lights.
If not, press each button on and off. Once the fuse blows, and you will hear it, that is your culprit.

Hope this helps.

Well, make sure there's nothing in your cigarette lighter. I had a penny fall in mine and replaced the fuse 2 times before I found the penny in there.

I pulled out the cig lighter, pushed the rear defrost off, and unlocked the doors (just to be sure). Replaced the plug, it worked. No more fuse blowing. Thanks guys. If it keeps it up, I may need help chasing some wires....

I keep blowing my CTSY fuse! ...........I think its the courtesy lights fuse. I cannot find the shorts even after disconecting the cig lighter........the fuse is rated at 20, but I installed a 25 and it seems to not pop anymore. Should I look for the short or just keep this higher rated fuse in? I do not want to melt my wiring harness.

The 25 amp is a good stop gap measure to keep things working, but personally, I would try to track it down. I am going to to when I replace my seat covers. I'll have the seats out and that will make getting under the carpet easier. Do you have an aftermarket stereo? That might have some bearing on the fuse....

Nah, its the stock cassette/eq stereo, im ripping it out eventualy. I think it might be a short circuit in the light in the center console storage area.
