High idle
I know this isn't Third Gen related but a friend of mine has a 1999 Mercury Sable (V6 auto) for a winter driver and the engine is idling
at 1200 rpm and wont come down to normal idle speed. So far he has changed the IAC with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas or is there a web site I can go to. Oh, I forgot to mention he also gets a check engine lite.

Has he gone somewhere and had the code read? Advance Auto and several other parts stores have a scanner to read the codes and do not charge for the service. He might find that it is a vacuum leak somewhere.
